The questions guests ask most before a Samae San snorkeling trip: what if you cannot swim, which trips suit small children, park fees, how far ahead to book, join-group departures, weather, and what to bring.
I can't swim — can I still snorkel?
Yes. Everyone wears a life jacket the whole time they are in the water, and the crew shows you how to use the mask before every entry. The shallow site at Koh Chuang is not deep, so you can see the fish clearly without diving down.
Which trip suits a family with small children?
We suggest Trip D to Koh Kham or the 3-hour snorkeling Trip A. Both are short, have a place to rest on the island, and offer a special rate for children aged 1–5.
Are park fees included in the price?
Not included. Park fees are collected separately depending on the site: typically 90–150 THB per person for Thai nationals and 200–300 THB for foreign visitors, depending on the trip.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend at least 3–7 days ahead, especially for long weekends and Saturdays and Sundays, as departures fill quickly. Trip G runs only once a day, so book that one even earlier.
Is the join-group option available every day?
The 800 THB per person join-group rate applies only to Trip A on Saturdays at 12.00. On other days we operate charter only.
What happens if it rains or the sea is rough?
We monitor the weather and let you know in advance. If the boat cannot go out, you can move your booking to another day — your safety always comes first.
What should I bring?
Swimwear or clothes you don't mind getting wet, a towel, a change of clothes, sunscreen (reef-safe is best) and a hat. Snorkeling gear, life jackets and the SUP board are provided.
Are the photos really free, and when do I get them?
Genuinely free on every trip. The crew shoots on the boat and underwater, then sends the files to you on LINE after the trip.
Can I take home the fish or squid I catch?
Yes. Or the crew can prepare it as fresh sashimi on the boat, or grill it on the barbecue we bring along.
How do I get to Samae San from Bangkok?
It is about a two-hour drive from Bangkok via the motorway and Sukhumvit Road towards Sattahip. There is parking at the pier, or ask us about our transfer service.
